Bring a date; bring a friend. Join us for food, drinks, music, and poetry. Do something different with your Sunday evening. We invite everyone to join us for an amazing night of artistry as poets, singers, and musicians grace the stage.

Ignite The Mic Alexandria is the longest running poetry organization in Central Louisiana, and the number one gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic is a local is a local nonprofit organization centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe freedom of speech, self-determination, and the pursuit of creative excellence are inalienable rights. Furthermore, we believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

Featured Artist of the Night: Rain Allen began their poetry journey in their hometown of Valdosta, Georgia in 2011, writing and performing with a youth team as well as a college team. After moving to Dallas, Texas, they began studying the art more intensely under the mentorship of Candy, as a part of the Dallas Poetry Slam team (2020-2022). Rain has brought their dynamic writing style and wide range of poetic topics to cities all over the U.S., ranking 15th at WOWPS 2020 and 2nd at Nationals 2021 with the Dallas Slam team, as well as editors choice in Button Poetry’s video contest 2021 with the group poem “American Clone” with the poet C.R.U.S.H. Rain used their knowledge and experience at the youth and adult level to teach poetry to kids and teens. They have recently set up a new home base out of Houston, Texas, but you can find them performing all throughout the states of Texas and Louisiana.

Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 6:30pm. Food and drinks available for purchase. No outside food or drinks allowed.
