“Ignite The Mic” is Central Louisiana’s #1 gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic Alexandria is a local and privately funded creative initiative centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

New to candle making or just want to learn how to make your own candle? At this Ignite The Mic show, we are teaming up with one of Central Louisiana’s best local business owners to help you learn the basis to candle making. You will learn what is required to have a great smelling candle and leave this session with a candle that you made. Bring your good vibes, your friends, or plan a date night with your special someone, and we are going to have a great time together.

Featured Candle Making Instructor of the Night: Datiskila L. Wallace. Datiskila is affectionally known as Shawn or “The Candle Lady.” Datiskila is the owner and chandler of Abode Luxury Home Fragrances. Abode is an online candle store of boutique fragrances that will romance the luxury side of your home and intimate spaces. Datiskila will guide you through the fun process of candle-making. We will provide all of the tools you need to make your very own scented candle.
