Bring a date; bring a friend. Join us for food, poetry, singing, and music. Do something different with your Sunday evening. We invite everyone to join us for an amazing night of artistry as poets, singers, and musicians grace the stage.

Ignite The Mic Alexandria is the longest running poetry organization in Central Louisiana, and the number one gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic is a local and privately funded creative initiative centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe freedom of speech, self-determination, and the pursuit of creative excellence are inalienable rights. Furthermore, we believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

Featured Artist of the Night: Marvin Smith-Poetically known as Jus’ Marvin is a spoken word artist, musician, and host from Shreveport, Louisiana, and current transplant in Dallas, Texas.

With work seen on Write About Now, The T.R.U.T.H Project and Masterpiece: FLOW (For The Love Of Words ) Jus’ Marvin has used the combinations of a theater background, musicianship, and mental health awareness to provide a helping hands behind all of his work; providing him with the chance to compete on The Dallas Poetry Slam Team from 2021-2023. This southern wordsmith is known for his vivid paintings with his story teller approach to his writing. “For a long time I wrote for the stage, now I’m writing for the healing when we are off the stage; like sanity is the only person in the audience.”

Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 6:30pm. Food and drinks available for purchase.
