Ignite The Mic presents, “Poetry & Punchlines.”

Bring a date; bring a friend. Poetry meets Comedy in Alexandria. Join us for food, drinks, poetry, and comedy. Do something different with your Sunday evening. We invite everyone to join us for an amazing night of artistry as poets, singers, and musicians grace the stage.

Ignite The Mic Alexandria is the longest running poetry organization in Central Louisiana, and the number one gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic is a local and privately funded creative initiative centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe freedom of speech, self-determination, and the pursuit of creative excellence are inalienable rights. Furthermore, we believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

Poets, singers, musicians, and more: the stage is yours! Want to sign up to showcase your talent? We’d love to have you. Contact: 318.769.9903

Featured Artist of the Night: Quinton “Munchie” Washington is a witty comedian from Shreveport, Louisiana who has the ability to cross cultural barriers, racial barriers and any other type of barriers to bring the funny! His very first performance was at the Addison Improv, in Addison, TX where he received a standing ovation. It was a showcase put on by Comedian Dean Lewis who was shocked by the fact that it was Munchie’s very first time on stage! Ever since then, he has been performing none stop in order to grow at his craft.

Munchie has had the privilege of performing for the US troops in Germany. The first time he opened for Melanie Comarcho and the second time he went back as the Headliner. He has also been a feature for Joe Torry, Pierre, Bengt Washburn, and Reginald Ballard aka Bruh Man from the hit TV show Martin. Bruce Ayers, owner of the Stardome in Birmingham, AL calls on Munchie frequently to host or Feature for the weekend. He’s performed with comedians such as Steve O from the TV Show “Jack Ass”, Tony Roberts, Tony Tone, NeNe Leaks from the Real Housewives of Atlanta on her comedy tour and Wildin’ Out’s own Matt Rife.
