Ignite The Mic presents, “Heavy Spitters Poetry Slam.”

Bring a date; bring a friend. Get a 2-for-1: open mic night and a poetry slam. Do something different with your Sunday evening. We invite everyone to join us for an amazing night of artistry as poets, singers, and musicians grace the stage.

Ignite The Mic Alexandria is the longest running poetry organization in Central Louisiana, and the number one gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic is a local and privately funded creative initiative centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe freedom of speech, self-determination, and the pursuit of creative excellence are inalienable rights. Furthermore, we believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

After the open mic portion of the show is complete, two phenomenal artists will compete in a head-to-head poetry slam to battle it out for the title of, “The Best Poet.”

Please be advised that “colorful” language may be used. Poets are uncensored and freedom of speech is in full effect. Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 6:30pm. Food available for purchase. No outside food or drinks allowed.

Online ticket purchase is REQUIRED for this event. ABSOLUTELY NO DOOR PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED! Face covering encouraged.
