Ignite The Mic presents, “Charity Date Auction & Game Night.”

Ignite The Mic Alexandria is the longest running poetry organization in Central Louisiana, and the number one gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic is a local and privately funded creative initiative centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe freedom of speech, self-determination, and the pursuit of creative excellence are inalienable rights. Furthermore, we believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Go “bid” or go home! Gather your friends (and their money) and come out for a great time with a great cause. Bid on dates with Central Louisiana’s most eligible single guys and ladies. The date auction: even though we are trying to raise funds for a local nonprofit organization, it is also meant to entertain the general audience who just came to watch. Join us for a night of good fun and great vibes as we blend entertainment, charity, and poetry as we continue to impact our local community through the arts.

This is a fun, innocent, charity event. Winning bidders must understand that the dates have no obligation beyond the agreed upon ONE HOUR appointment.

Don’t need to participate in the dating auction, because you already have your special someone? That’s fine. Come and join the social mixer. There will be food, games, poetry, and networking opportunities. Don’t forget your business cards! Come and meet people from your local community, make new friends, and form mutually beneficial business connections.

1. So what is a date auction anyway?

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Men and women volunteer to auction themselves to the highest bidder, for charity.

2. Who will benefit from the proceeds?

A portion of the proceeds will benefit community initiatives that promote educational, economic and cultural empowerment.

3. What happens after I win?

Congratulations! You will be given the phone number and email address of the candidate for whom you won the bid.

4. Do I have to go on a date if I win the bid?

You are not obligated to go on a date with the candidate. However, if you choose to go on a date with him/her, it must be done within 30 days from the auction.

5. How can I help?
