Ignite The Mic is the longest-running poetry organization in Central Louisiana and the number one gathering place for artists and lovers of the arts. Ignite The Mic Alexandria is a local and privately funded creative initiative centered around unity, inclusion, diversity, and healing through the arts. We believe poetry can be used to create a healthy dialogue about issues, often deemed taboo to discuss. We strive to create an understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives by cultivating and amplifying creative voices. The purpose of this event is to promote the creation and performance of art that engages communities and provides a platform for artistic voices to be heard uncensored.

After the open mic portion of the show is complete, two poetry teams will compete in a poetry slam to battle it out for the title of, “The Best Poetry Team.”

Please be advised that “colorful” language may be used. Poets are uncensored and freedom of speech is in full effect. Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 6:30pm. Food available for purchase. No outside food or drinks allowed.
